Wise School

Did you know that owls were first associated with wisdom and helpfulness in early Indian mythology? Later on Athena, the Ancient Greek Goddess of Wisdom, was frequently shown with a Little Owl as a symbol of wisdom.

On Tuesday 21st Feb we had some special visitors to school – six different owls including a Little Owl. The children really enjoyed getting up close to the owls and finding out all kinds of information about them.  Peter and Nicola, who brought the owls into school, were extremely impressed with the level of interest and questions asked by the children.

You can find out more about the Trewitley Owl Trust here.

As well as aiming to give the children a special and different experience on Tuesday, we are also using the owl as a symbol for a development on our approach to positive behaviour - the idea of behaving in a wise way (showing good judgement and making good choices). Wise Points and owl stickers are all part of the picture – see if your child can tell you more!
